"Successfully Updating Your Program"


First of all "updating" and "upgrading" are not the same thing. To "update" your HorseTrak program, you will have HorseTrak Version 6 or higher. You will see a button on your opening screen that reads "Update your program" This button is in place so that when the programmer sends enhancements or fixes for your current program up to the website, you can receive the latest and greatest enhancements to your program. Please note: Version 5 (2003) users should be using Version 5.58. That is the last update available. There are no more.

Version 5 (2003) users or any other HorseTrak customers using a lower version program desiring an upgrade or needing more features, need to upgrade to Version 6. Current features for the Version 6 program can be viewed by Clicking Here

    Now on to troubleshooting your Update Issues:


    If you have clicked on the "Update My Program" button in your HorseTrak program and your Version # has not changed, please follow these directions:

  • Once you have clicked on the "Update .." button and are taken to our website to the Update page, CLOSE YOUR HORSETRAK PROGRAM. Customers keep reporting having a problem with the patch and 9 times out of 10 we are finding they DO NOT close the program as instructed.

  • At the end of the download/installation process, choose "yes" when asked if you want to restart your computer? If you have not restarted your computer since downloading the update, please do so now to see if the program updates to Version 6.951 (or higher). If that doesn't do it, proceed to the next step.

  • Go to "My Preferences" then "Repair/Restore Old Data" Then "Freshen & Repair Data". Click on the "Tag All" button then "Freshen." Click "Done" and close your program. Open again. Hopefully your program will now be updated to Version 6.951 (or higher). If not:

  • Right click your mouse on the HorseTrak icon on your DeskTop, then click on Properties, then check the target directory. Make sure it reads: "C:\Program Files\HTV6\htg60.exe" Then make sure the Start In directory reads:"C:\Program Files\HTV6" If both directories do not read that way, change them. Close and reopen your program to see if that updates it. If not:

  • Click on the "Update your program" button again, close your program, then click on the patch URL on our website again. Choose "Run" or "Open" when prompted. Here's the REALLY important part: Watch your screen carefully to make sure the Destination Directory reads: "C:\Program Files\" When asked if you want to restart your computer, choose "yes"

  • Once you have restarted your computer and reopen your program, your version will now be Version 6.952 (or higher).
